About us

Why the name Spirit and Serendipity?  The scriptural basis is John 6:63, where Jesus says, My words are spirit and they are life.  Therefore, the purpose of this ministry is to shepherd believers – – including the founders- – in applying the Word of God to the choices, challenges and changes that confront us as we live our lives.

The Word is Spirit.  It is useful to the believer in all aspects of his journey towards
spiritual wholeness and maturity.  Consider 2 Timothy 3:16-17:
All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for
reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God     may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.

The Word is Life.  In both the Old and the New Testaments, God promises that the ultimate result of the believer’s life will be good.
I have it all planned out–plans to take care of you, not abandon you, plans
to give you the future you hope for  [Jeremiah 29:11Message]
And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him
who have been called according to His purpose.  [Romans 8:28NIV]
Hence, the Word is serendipitous.

Spirit and Serendipity is also the umbrella term for the activities that fulfill the call of Fred and Klara S. Hadley:  to shepherd the body of Christ.  Fred was first ordained as a deacon in 1971 at Bethel Missionary Baptist Church by Reverend C.K. Steele, Sr. in Tallahassee, Florida,  In addition to the continuing deacon’s ministry, he has served as Sunday School Director, prison ministry leader, and Church School teacher.  Klara was consecrated as a mother in 1999 by Elder Reginald Rolle at Elizabeth Popular Spring Primitive Baptist Church in Tallahassee. Prior to that, she served for over ten years as Minister of Education at St. James Missionary Baptist Church in Rivera Beach, Florida, where Reverend . A. H. Lockett, Sr., was pastor.  Currently, she serves as a Bible study leader, speaker, and facilitator for workshops, vigils and other sessions. Together, they rejoice in their call to live,  teach and apply the Word in the same spirit as Paul in Acts 18:23–strengthening the disciples/believers.
